does it matter which side is down on a thrush bearing? cousin had to rebuild a 2840 spindle and the original bearing was just a few roller bearings left.

just wondered if the side that had the moving side went up or down.

Candidiasis or thrush is a fungal infection (mycosis) of any of the Candida species, of which Candida albicans is the most common.[1][2] Candidiasis encompasses infections that range from superficial, such as oral thrush and vaginitis, to systemic and potentially life-threatening diseases. Candida infections of the latter category are also referred to as candidemia and are usually confined to severely immunocompromised persons, such as cancer, transplant, and AIDS patients.
Superficial infections of skin and mucosal membranes by Candida causing local inflammation and discomfort are however common in many human populations.[2][3][4] While clearly attributable to the presence of the opportunistic pathogens of the genus Candida, candidiasis describes a number of different disease syndromes that often differ in their causes and outcomes.[2][3] Commonly referred to as a yeast infection, it is also technically known as candidosis, moniliasis, and oidiomycosis.[5]:308

Oh Yeah!!

Excerpt from JD-H Restoration Guide, Chapter 5:

TIP: Thrust Bearing -- Do not overlook inspecting and repacking the lower thrust bearing. It carries the entire weight of the tractor's front! When the thrust bearing is reinstalled, be sure the bearing is oriented correctly. You can physically install the bearing upside-down. There is only one correct way! Looking at the inner ring, the side with the most prominent inner ring is the wheel side, down! The side with the most prominent outer ring is the pedestal side, up! These prominent rings are the weight bearers. If the bearing carries a "THRUST" mark, install the bearing with the side marked "THRUST" facing down. ++++

Well, since you did it both times you used the word, it would appear that you didn't know it was a THRUST bearing.

Yes, he was poking at you, maybe a little too hard, but I'll bet you know now what to call it. You'd look like a real tool if you went to the parts counter and asked for a thrush bearing. In the long run, he helped you

He also posted at the end the link to the free parts catalog you can look at.

OH COME ON YOU GUYS !

You should all know a Thrush bearing is a muffler bearing made by the people who made those thrush mufflers ! LOL

I was tired, having been in the hay field this week in triple didgit temperatures without a/c trying to help my cousin out on his tractor. Yes i know it is called a thrust bearing. so what, i misspelled it big deal.Dude

Wrong, he did not help me.

You do not know if i would of called it a thrush or thrust bearing at the parts counter. And i bet the guy at the parts counter would of known either way.

I swear I was gonna say the same thing about muffler bearings, but I was "skeered" to do it. By the way that is correctly spelled scared above the Mason Dixon Line. ha ha.

Don't take it too personal. I've laid a few eggs here myself. It was just too good of an opportunity to turn down for a little razzing.
