Tim in New York...

Hi Larry,

Yes, I did. I had to pull it with my other tractor, but it fired up almost immediately. I had been trying to crank start it for a couple of days, but just could not spin it fast enough with the one battery I had. So I had lots of raw fuel to burn off once it fired. It ran rough, really rough for about 3 minutes, but then smoothed right out and stopped smoking. I'm really pleased, based on 10 or 15 minutes of run time, I don't think I have any major engine issues. The water pump was shot, so I could not run it long with water flying everywhere.

The pump is turning into an issue. I sent it to John Saeli, he could not get the impeller out, nor find the seal. so he has sent it on to a friend who hopefully can resolve those issues. In the meantime, I have several fuel leaks to fix - once the engine started vibrating the old seals didn't hold.

How are you doing? Did you get your 800 runing? Did you sell the rims?

Happy Turkey Day.

Tim

Glad to hear that it lives!!!!!!! I did about the same thing weds after work. I installed the rebuilt injectors, cranked it a couple of times and then pulled it with our 511B. almost the excact same results, ran really rough and smoked a ton. I had alot of blow by from the valve cover breathers but that stopped after about 10 mins of driving it around. And also no strange noises from the engine other than a couple of exhaust leaks. Bad part; one of the rubber lines for the caseomatic was touching the generator belt... Yeah it cut the line so today I'm taking it out and having one made.

I do have a question should this thing shut off with the key or only with the decompression lever?

So far I have only listed the rims on the YT classified section but yes I still have them...

Larry - congratulations, glad its running well. the fuel shutoff is on the throttle lever. If you push the throttle all the way up - to idle, you hit a stop. Compress the little lever on the throttle, that lets you bypass the stop and keep going up - that shuts off the fuel. I don't think you should use the compression release to stop it. The key does nothing, except maybe drain your battery if you don't turn it off.

Keep in touch,

tim

Larry,
No you are not suppose to use the decompression lever to shut it off. It can be used for as a emergency shut off. It's main function is to allow you to turn the engine freely when in cold wheather or when hand cranking such as setting lifters. May slso be used as a way to prevent child or other unauthorized person to start the diesel engine. Continue use of using the lever for shut may result in engine damage.
