Tim S airconditioning

Hey there Tim, I have a 4020 with a Year A Round cab and was wondering if you have had any experience adding aftermarket air conditioning. I have seen Red Dot AC units on ebay that mount overhead inside the cab. This is a early 4020 with the block weep holes in it.I would rather pull off the cab and put on fenders, and purchase a 4230 with a better cab but thats not in the budget. What are your thoughts? Another question is how would you mount the compressor and how to run the compressor since the front pulley has only one groove for the belt? Thank-You!! Chris Eilers,Montague,Michigan

I'm not Tim but have mounted several new aftermarket cabs on 4020's. If your tractor has 24 volt electrical system you'll need a 24 volt comp coil & blower fans or you'll have difficult time trying to keep battery voltage balanced & charged. IIRC compressor either mounts above or below engine. I think there was a pulley to bolt to damper to drive compressor but it's been a long time since i did the mount.

I have never installed one, but I have seen a few,, and they didn't work out well, the compressor is mounted under the engine to gain access to the front pulley,, I would put fenders on it and get a 4240 with a cab, less birthdays and a solid tractor..

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll have to start saving dough to get the 4240 next spring. Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Thanks, Chris
