You were right about a 2010. Everyone should have to work on one. I don't blame you for not wanting to help on this one even with refreshments it was not fun. I don't know if it was better or worse than having a tooth knocked out but I feel like I have been in a war. The person that put that power steering pressure line in the bell housing with that little hole too far up from the fitting should be the one with the tooth knocked out. My hand is too big for the hole and thanks to my son we got around that sucker. Not to say the lines on the remote valve were easy. I think I will pass on the next one. Also John Deere has not came up on my list of tractors because of it. At least it is fixed and I think it might be headed for a new home. Thanks to you and all the other people that helped in this project it is another problem fixed.

They are "Nasty" to work on,very poorly desighned.I am not sure what group were involved with the makeing of them,,but I'm glad they kept them out of Waterlou. Don't think that all Deere's are this bad,,they are not. The Waterlou tractors are easy to repair with good success.They are truely the back bone of Deere's success...

The 1020's and 2020's are easyer than a 2010 by far, but not as nice as the Waterlou's...

Ive heard very much so. I have a book at home that says "the JD 2010 is the worst tractor JD ever made". Thats been quoted many times. I dont think they shared any parts with any other tractor, a real unique piece. Their still wanting like $4500 for them used.

I know I have some special built wrenches for a 2010 now! I think any other tractor I have worked on including my 1070 case with cab is easier to split than the 2010. Just for a small tractor they tried to put too much in too small of space. It was a big leap from the two cylinder tractors to this thing in my opinion. It would have helped if it would have had side panels to remove below the dash.

I have had several mechs tell me that they were not as realiable and rugged as say a 4020. Is this true? To many people tell me to stay away from them. Were the engines in the 20 series any better?

Fortunately non of the other Deere's share any of the 2010 stuff....

Maybe not exactly the same but the older Dubuque tractors before the 2010 had brakes and rockshaft mechanisms that closely resembled. The older inside rockshaft linkages looked like an erector set.

1020's are up were simpler

Yes they are okay as long as the wrong trans oil has not screwed the brakes up, that is the main down fall of that style tractor, the lining deteriorates and the brakes go metal to metal and no one realizes it till it's too late, I would not buy one till I pulled the trans. filter and checked for metal shavings ,,when they are good they are great,when they are bad they are "very" bad, the engines are the best part of them...

2020's were good tractors but as Tim pointed out poor maintenance is hard on any wet disc hyd system. 2020's are light yrs ahead of a 2010 as far as being classified as good. But 2020's are getting old like me.

IMHO Jdemaris is knowledgeable and probably favors JD tractors just from his many yrs experience repairing them but I think he ownes several different brands of machinery. I also favor JD's but I'm not color blind because I also own a Ford & a Kubota tractor along with 3 JD tractors
