Timing cover removal

Super 55. I’m trying to take it off without breaking it. Seems like it’s stuck on the location pins. It had super tough gasket adhesive around it and with a little heat, I have a putty knife sliding all the way around except on the pins.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Did you take the oil pan bolts out that go in the bottom of the cover? Make sure there aren't any bolts covered up by caked on grease or dirt that you may have missed....

Yup, I have the block upside down. I can see everything well and it seems like it’s just the pins where the stickage is. You can see one in the upper left in the pic. The other is at the bottom. The cover looks like die cast metal and that stuff is so fragile.
I also can’t get the magneto out. The manual says remove the bolts and pull it straight out. Again I slid a putty knife around the perimeter but it doesn’t want to come out.

Magneto? Do you mean the distributor? It should pull right out. It could be a little stuck. Same with the timing cover. Just keep at it with the putty knife and wiggling it around. Could carefully tap it with a rubber mallet too. It’ll come off eventually. It looks like you haven’t taken the governor housing off yet. That could also be part of your problem

I got it off finally without breaking it. I used two screw drivers on each pin, one on each side of the pin. Once I could see it moving I would tap it back in, put a little oil on it and move it back out a little more, tap it back in etc.
Pics show the white adhesive it had on it, even the bolt threads. Thanks for the advice.

Dread, over the years i have had oil pans, valve covers and other thing you would swear was welded to the block! Had to get very aggressive to disassemble after checking for hidden fastners.

Appears like aluminum corrosion on those bolts. I was also gonna say about that aluminum cover corroding to those dowels. Aluminum and steel are bad for corroding together. I fought with my fair share of things too over the years. Biggest thing is to be patient.
