Timing Farmall F12

I have a Farmall F12 with an F4 magneto that wants to run rough. It also blows flame out of the exhaust. It seems to me that it is probably running too far retarded.

Just to double verify, I have two "holes" on my flywheel housing. One is on the operator's left right below the frame rail and the other is on the extreme bottom of the housing. Which hole do I use to measure TDC?

Those two "holes" are for completely different things. The hole on the operator side of the bell housing is for timing. The other small hole on the bottom is a drain hole for any oil that might leak out of the rear main seal. If you need help with timing of the mag, holler.

Are you sure you dont have an exaust valve sticking open?
