You can be sure that the mfgr has the engine timing set to the maximum HP that can be got for normal usage. The timing can be advanced to make more power at higher rpms or if a higher octane than recommended is used but more octane will not cause a lo compression ag engine to gain much power. Actually a higher octane fuel has a slower burn rate than lo test. Hi Test is used to control detonation which is not spark related. There are many factors to cover and some modifications will allow more engine timing.
