I have read some entries from the forum about timing and having experience from cars (we could actually work on) ... but I am curious as to where the timing marks are on my TO-35, I can not seem to locate them on the belt pulley and there is no harmonic balancer. Also, I see no pointer....so what do you use as a reference?
also, I assume #1 cylinder is front...correct?

the timing mark on my to-35 is located on the flywheel. To access the mark you must remove a plug below the starter.

first plug (front to rear) is number one on my tractor.

line up distributor on #1 then turn motor with a wrench and you should see the timing marks. 6 degrees i think.

I find it very hard to use a timing light to time my TO-35 gas. I have used a friends professional snap-on timing light and it worked great, but my low budget timing light, not so much.

I have timed it by ear and it runs, starts and pulls good so I am going to leave it alone.

good luck,

I may check it just for giggles (do have a professional light), but I just had to pull the distributor a couple of times, till I hit it... tuned it in and seems to be running great...set of new plugs didn't hurt anything either.

Thanks,

Now comes the big challenge, getting the 3 point working better, oh boy! LOL
