Hello Tim. Just wanted to show you the finished product. Very happy with it all. Are you still working away in your shop? Weve got a 3020 we are playing with that might get the same treatment. You interested in putting a kit together for that? Thanks. Jim

Thanks BD. That was the plan. No cuts in hood and could easily put back to original. TimS has spent a lot of time on the layout to be sure it all fits under hood
without any other modifications.

Hello IAfarmguy. Its a 71 4000 synchro that I grew up with. My dad purchased in 74. I took the year round cab off and restored 20 yrs ago and my son has been playing w it in antique tractor pulls. Lots of fun and learning along the way. The turbo has really woke it up. Havent had on Dyno since completed but w the pump work, head and injectors we did I expect its about 150-160 hp. The narrow front and pressed steel wheels allows us to get down to 7500 lb class. Lightweight and lots of power.

thats a dream tractor for me ! ive always wanted one just like that!
please tell me a little of the history on your tractor, if you dont care,
hours,? thanks

Oh yes,, I'm still working on Tractors here every day. I am putting a turbo kit together on a 1970 4020 this week. Here are a few pics..

Tim, This looks like an option I may have to consider on a 4320 that new / pulling turbo, being larger, is too big where there is not room for it. Next problem, the last time I checked the 4320 exhaust manifold is no longer available and it too is shot. Manifold off later tractors are too tall. I suspect you used the 4430 manifold?? How much did you drop height? And you also rolled it in toward center?? Thanks, DW

I cut 1 1/2 off and scooted the new mount plate toward center a bit for hood clearance..when you make the turbo mount plate you can make it to receive a TO6 if you wanted,, and then put the elbow where you want it, I tipped the water manifold over 10 degrees with those wedges in the one pic,,to make room for the turbo,, you could even fab your own water manifold to make room..Some times you have to think Out side of the box,,then bring a new idea into the picture.

I would be glad to share ideas with anyone wanting to give it a try,,I make a few up here, but I end up getting more time into them than I can charge for...A turbo really brings a 4020 t0 life..

Thanks Tim, I have tipped the water manifold toward center on other tractors to put larger turbo and use the later 55 series Ex. manifold to get the T04 foot. But that manifold really too high for the 4320 and mounts turbo too far back. The 4320 is a tight fit. A friend had a new M&W manifold for a 4020 and it put turbo too far forward. It runs today with turbo almost touching hood on the inside corner radius of hood setting on stock manifold. Need to tip turbo in toward center to get away from side of hood along with dropping it down as you did. DW

Thats great Tim. Glad to hear your still getting it done. That one pic of the braided steel line for turbo looks good. I intend to change mine. Looks better and a little less bulky. Ill give you a call to discuss the turbo for our 3020. Thanks for now. Jim

Thanks JDJ. Back in mid 70s dad added a turbo to his 1968 4020. It was our main workhorse for a few years until he added a 4430. It just ran great. As I recall, it was turning 125-130. We did heavy tillage, finishing, silage work, etc. We watched the exhaust temp and would back off a bit as it reached about 1300. I dont think that tractor ever gave up lugging a load. In the cab it was noisy, a distance away it sounded so sweet. Regrettably now, the tractor left our farm about 2003 with well over 15000 hours. Appreciate you and Tim sharing what you have done. Good luck.

Every now and again I wonder how much work it would be to move and swap components . To make a large enough space for an intercooler ? If an intercooler could be sandwiched in ahead or even behind the coolant radiator ?
Also have wondered if the 4620s factory intercooler located in the intake manifold . If it was all that effective given small surface area , flow restriction and using hot coolant as the heat sink .
