Tip in re attaching engine to transmission.

When getting ready to reattach the engine to the transmission, I cut the heads of of a couple of 4 inch bolts and screw them into the engine for use as guide pins, to the tranny. Saves a lot of work trying to align things especially if working alone.
I know many of you probalby allready know this, but it seems like there are a lot of newbees out there on their first overhaul.

8 inch bolts work better at times due to the fact you can get things lined up better and out enough to get your hands in between the engine and bell housing if need be. I also use 2 chain hoists so I can raise and lower as needed

Dick: Good tip for the new people. I use 4 bolts of different lengths--the longest to start things, then the next longest to get partial alignment, and so on until the last one which is usually 2 or 3 inches long for the final line up. I find it is easier to line up one bolt at a time rather than 3 or 4 at once.
