IM looking to buy some use chain for my tractor tires but everyone just post feet, inch size not what they fit. I can find when I need new but want to try use to see if they work for what I need.
so im so confused when they say like new only used once what don't they post what size tire they were on ?

my tire size is 14.9-24 does any know what foot/inch I would need? I also cant seem to find a chart to help me.

To find out if a used chain will fit you need to measure the width of your tire plus on both sides how far down the side wall you want the chain to go, the more the better to hold the chain in place. Once you have that point measured and marked then go completely around the tire at that point and get that distance then add enough length for the fastener to that. That measurement plus the tire width measurement is the size you need. Math not hard just getting the measurements from your tire is what would be hard.

Short answer is nope. There is no reference that lists length and width of chains in inches. At least none that I have found.

What I have had to do is refer back to the Laclede website for the number of cross chains and number of links in the cross chains to get an idea of a chain's size.

Look up the chain by size to get the model number for the chain using their tire chain finder. It will tell you how many cross chains per wheel and the number of links in a cross chain.

For the simple twist style cross chains, use their "Roadmaster" model. That's the most common. Second most common are "Duo-Grip" the ones with the X chains to keep them from falling in between the lugs.

If you are looking at double-ring chains, AKA "Nu-Way" you'll need to find the model for your set on another site like tirechain.com, then go here to look up the specs:

Here's some notes I've made over the years from some of the tractors I've had

TIRE CHAINS

From Ford Golden Jubilee
Tires were 12.4 x 28
Chains measure 21 inches wide x 118 inches long
Should Fit 11.2, 12.4 26 or 28

Tires were 11.2 x 28
Chains measure 21 inches wide x 118 inches long
Should Fit 11.2, 12.4 26 or 28

From My Oliver 550
Tires were 13.6 x 26
Chains measure 24 inches wide x 118 inches long
Should Fit 13.6, 14.9 26 or 28

Off of a Farmall H
Tires were 12.4 x 38
Chains measure 20 inches wide x 164 inches Long
Should Fit 11.2, 12.4 36 or 38

Other Notes:
11.2 x 28 = 21" x 115"
12.4 x 28 = 21" x 123"
13.6 x 28 = 24" x 123"
