was doing a search on tire chains, cause my driveway is a sheet of ice, came upon people making there own out of regular chains. i know it is not hardned chain, but for all i would be using it for i believe it would be fine. has anyone else made their own. any recommendations on doing it

angelp2ou might look around for some chains for a semi used/new.Hook them together and cut them to length for your rear tires.

I have a set for 11.2x28 tires. They are the ladder type BUT have very large rings that DO NOT fall between tire tread. Email is open!
I live in eastern Iowa near Davenport.

Years ago I picked up a number of old chains used by the road dept that came off the road graders. I then took them and made up 2 sets to fit my tractors and had left overs. Cost me around 10 cent a pound at that time. You can also find them at truck stops/repair shops where the truck chains have gotten to bad to use on the road and pick them up cheap and make them fit

I saw these incredible traction things in a Ferguson history video! Looks like a great system and very simplified setup too.
