Tire mounting

I have a couple of old sponges that I have squirted Dawn dish soap on. Then dunk them in water, squish for a while and you have a sudsy sponge to apply your tire lube. They dry out between uses. Dunk it back in the water and squish again. Works 3 or 4 times before it needs more soap. steve

I've seen rims/wheels that I used dish soap on in the past and it rusts the steel. I use that tire mounting lube from Murphy's. I just gob it on the crack between the bead on the tire and rim/wheel to seat beads. I also wipe off the excess as they come out. Been using the same pail for about 5 years now and still is over half full. Works slick as snot for mounting. Mounted some big tires like 18-38's and some 13-24's on combine with it along with car tires and such also. I think I paid 11.00 for an 8 pound pail of it. If just dried up add water and it would probably rehydrate to work.

Murphy's for me. I keep some full strength and another bucket mixed with water. Use whichever works best for the job I'm working on.

I've found that ArmorAll in the spray bottle works pretty well. I apply a abundant dose to the tire bead before mounting. So far so good.
