I'm looking to put 18.4X38 tires on an 18 inch wide rim. The BKT tires I am looking at are 8 ply and 12 ply. Any recommendation on which one I should use since the rim is wider than normal? Cost difference is around $100 per tire. Thanks.

Really shouldn't make much difference. Just may need to use different air pressure. We run 6 ply 18.4x38 a lot on our pulling tractors. Some guys run up to 22in width. Just have to do trial and error on pressure to get desired footprint

Personally I?d prefer the 8 but I agree with mmfan that figuring out the correct tire pressure is key. I would not recommend buying the tires if they are new though, you?d have better luck with an old hard set of tires.

What about the new pulling V cut 18.4 X 38 tires. Are they hard? When I saw them advertised I wondered how long It would be till I would have to have them to be competitive.

I saw a pair of new 18.4 x 38 Puller tires,at White Pines,on a high HP powered bigger tractor in the 6000 12 mph class,he struggled to get traction, was way back
