tire pressure

i have a john deere 'a' and want to pull it. it has new rear tires on it,probably 90%. only planning on the #5500 and #6000 classes. what would be an ideal tire pressure to consider? pull is 26 may in carrollton Ga.

Been told hard track high pressure ,soft track low pressure. 8 to 9 psi good place to start. seen 12 as a high, my tires like 4

Always heard soft track, soft tires. Hard track, hard tires.

As far as pressure that is just a guessing game until you find what works best.

A lot depends on which "A" you have and if it is "Original" as far as power is concerned..

The Early "A" with the fast 1st gear would be better off with More tire pressure, to encourage less tire squat and more tread slippage..so it can keep the tires turning longer...before it runs out of power..
Track conditions always dictate what you "need"..that, Tire type and weight placement..

It's a trial and error deal until you pull a while. When you finish your pull and drive off look back at the tire track, you want it flat. If it's rounded out it's too much pressure, if it's higher in the center than on the outside it's too little pressure. The track condition and the weight class will both be a factor.

they're all different. i ahve to run 16-17 lbs. in the 5500 lb. class to keep the tires from cupping in the middle. that's 16.9-38s on 14" rims.
