Tire question

What is today's best option to prevent flat tires when hogging overgrown pastures. Been 3 years since it was cut, have lots of locust, honey locust, barberry and autumn olive. Now have flats front and rear. The liners I used in the 60's are no longer available. What do you do?

Fatoldfool, Tire Sealant, Gemplers has what you need and a friend carries it on his service truck. The guy I worked for had the skid steer tires foam filled and they are heavy! I'd go with the tire sealant.

A dozer with steel tracks. LOL. Maybe have the tires filled with foam.
Sounds like the only thing you don't have in that field is 2X4s with 20 penny spikes sticking out of them.

I have a tractor that you can drive both way. I put a bush hog on back rotated the mower deck 180 degrees' I drive
backward and chop up evry thing before I drive over it.

Steel wheels,no kidding I have a set I have used standard 8 lug on the back and 6 lug for the front.Amish steel, Bud up at Yinglings yard gave them to me years ago.

Well, sad to say there ain't a good remedy. I personally use a tire plug system, from Walmart, then add lots of Slime, and when I get 6 or 8 plugs it is taken down to the real tire shop and repaired correctly. I know that's a goofus way, but it works.

Gempler?s also has tire guards (their term). Not cheap but sounds like what you mentioned. Their index also lists tire reliners (two-piece that look like split inner tubes) but each one is listed as no longer available.
Gempler s guards

While it is not as good as to old tire liners taking a couple of inner tubes and cutting them open then laying them in the tire so they are between the tire and tube does help a lot

3000OH, I'm going to try it on my next flat. I have some weather checked tires that still have tread and he swears they will plug right up.

I don't know. Green Slime is sorta OK in a pinch, sometimes it works, for me, for a long time, sometimes no. But I'm not a real farmer.

I have purchased several tires from Gensco their website is: noflats.com, they are used or new (your choice) airplane tires with rims. I live in south Texas and we have mesquites to deal with, they can make a mess out of regular tractor tires. I highly recommend them. I put them on everything I can.
