tire size rules

I wanted to run an olive 77 in div II 4500 5000 and maybe a little bit in 5500 lb classes in 4500 I have to run 13.6 tires but once you get to 5000 you can run bigger will the 13.6 put me at a big disadvantage at 5000 and 5500 should i try for 4000 and 4500 instead

bigger tires are always an advantage, overall . some tracks the narrower tire may be an advantage but not many . in my opinion pick the classes suited for the tires you will be running .

We pulled our 1950 77 in NATPA D2 in 3500#, 4000# and 4500# with 13.6 tires. This was with a 130# driver and about 100# of moveable weight. No PTO, hydraulics, mechanical lift, belt pulley etc. We had light weight front hubs and pressed steel rear rims, we did not use any aluminum parts.

When we did pull 5000# we changed to the bigger tires, but decided it was not worth the effort, so we stopped pulling 5000#.

Have fun

The engine is stock stroke with a 3-3/4" bore kit. The problem wasn't power, the problem was traction, having the right tires and weight balance for the track is the key to winning.

I guess u need to figure out what weight class u want to pull in first and go from there. At least if you pull in the heavier classes you will have more tractors to pull against

I ran 13.6s all over the country, pulled in jack pots, regular classes against 16.9 x 34,was always in the top 3-4,even with 30-36 in some jack pots, won many classes and had several full pulls.Any tire can be made to work, right weights, right driving, right air.I too needed the small tires for 4500,but did equally well in 5-55 Div.2
