Tire Size

I Have a IH 300 Utility with 12.6x28 rear tires on it now. It has 11 inch wide rims. Will a 14.9x28 tire it the current wheels?

They will 'fit' the rim. However they will be bowed in/bulged out.May want to check fender clearance,too. 13.6x28 is what I would go with.

I have 14.9 combine tires on my 350U they do fit the fenders because the rims are offset enough to work, and from the combine. Are they too big? some, but they were free. 13.6 would be my choice. Jim

When the rim width to tire designed rim width get too far apart, you either have problems keeping the tire on the rim (rim too wide) or on the other hand (rim too narros) the sidewall is soft to resisting lateral motion. On tubeless tires there could also be sealing problems either way, especially if running low pressure and/or fluid filling for a soft ride. BTDT

I have a couple sets of Kelly /Springfield 2000 R1s and the sizing on the sidewall of the tire says 13.6x28 on a 12 rim. I know 12.4x28 or 13.6 are both spec'd for Fords of the era on the 28 wheel whereby the 14.9 is spec'd on a 24 wheel. I would assume the common wheel width for that would be 11 to accommodate the 12.4. I have a much later model 3910 and it also is running 13.6x28s but apparently the rim is wider than 12 because side by side the later model tires look much larger, or maybe it is 12 making more sense and the other two are on 11 rims.
