tires for 8n

just found out that my tires on my 8n are laoded i would like to replace one of the tires because it is very weathered i think they must have tubes in them but cant tell how much would a tire cost for and 8n

Matt.........would it surprize you to learn ALL loaded (not laoded) tires have tubes in them? They LEAK otherwize. Weathered tires are SAFE, they just look grey 'stedda' fresh BLACK. Only the sphincterly challenged care iff'n they're BLACK. Just as long as you kenn keep 12psi in the rears, yer goot-too-goe. (26psi front) As fer cost, probably $250 ea. Normal 8N tires size is 11.2x28 (originally 10x28) .........HTH, the amazed Dell

ifhe tires hold air and water and are the same size, I'd just run them till one died and needed replacing.

you'd be surprised how long a weather checked tire can last. Can be decades!

If the color bothers you, buy some flat black paint and paint the tire. can be spray can or latex 'house' paint.

As sound said run them till the tubes come out. I have one tractor that I was told I needed to replace the rear tires on well over 15 years ago and well it still has the same tires on it that is had on 15 plus years ago. I have a pair of replacement tires sitting in the back of the shed and they have been there for 10 or so years now

My 64 4000 Industrial has fairly worn down loader tires (16.9x24) they aren't much for pulling stumps, but it is wonderful for doing work around the yard in the spring, because I don't have to run the yard roller afterwards because the tires cut the yard up.

The 8N that we just got has got regular 11.2x28's on it, mismatched tread, but good tread, they are weather checked, but these tires all have tubes in them, so the checking isn't a problem as of yet. Just have to watch how soft the yard is when I use it.

It all depends on what you are using the tractor for. The 4000 will have the loader put back on it, and we use it to pull the disc and tiller, so tire tread isn't an issue.

The 8N will do the rest of the work, because its smaller and without the loader a ton easier to maneuver down the trails for mowing.

Tires are an expensive replacement by the time you buy tire, tube and get them mounted, local shop wants $50 to mount an 11.2 and $68 to mount a 16.9, each. If you are going to keep the tractor, tires can be a worthwhile purchase, if you are planning on reselling it, I would never count on recouping that cost in the sale of the tractor, at least in my area it doesn't seem to mean much in price when one is actually sold.

And remember, your rims could be 60+ years old, we just had one tire changed and when we pulled out the tube, we found that the rim was so thin in places that parts of it came out with the tube, it probably would have been fine for several years if we hadn't unmounted it, thankfully we had another rim that we could use, so thats something to consider as well, you may end up buying two new outer rims when you buy the new tires and tubes.

11.2X28 should cost around 200.00 each put on + tube. We used to charge 10.00per tire to pump out the fluid and pump itback in to the new tires.

My friend just put new rears on his 8n. 11.2-28. They were over $400 each. No local shop here will mess with tractors. you have to have a truck come or do it yourself.

(quoted from post at 14:14:32 03/09/16)you'd be surprised how long a weather checked tire can last. Can be decades!

Bought my 2N about 25 years ago and noticed some serious cracks on one rear tire. Figured I'd replace it when it failed. After 20 years, it finally split bad enough that the tube let go. Ordered up a pair of turf tires on rims from Tucker Tire and they were delivered in a few days.

i got a quote last month for 2 new tires , wheels and tubes mounted not loaded for 903.00 i thought that was an okay price .
