Tires in bad shape?

Hi all
Need to get a new tire for the right side of my NAA, found a set of three 14.9x28 tires on fb marketplace. They look like nearly new tires with some cracking in the sidewalls. They genuinely don't seem that bad and I have seen tires in far worse shape in the past, though the bio and the fact that they are nearly new with cracking in side walls is a bit concerning.

The seller states: THEY WILL NOT HOLD AIR EVEN WITH A TUBE. You would have to patch every crack for them to last even a while. With the price of the size patches you'd need, you're better off buying a new tire (which I can help you with.)Michelin 14.9-28 tires, They WILL NOT hold air, they were on a very low pressure application that destroys the sidewalls.

I am not sure why a tube wouldnt work, I would use tubes anyways. Want your guys opinions before I do anything. Not a bad price for the set, then i could have another set on hand if so

They look like they've been run flat/ too low air pressure. I'd want to see what the inside looked like, specifically the sidewalls to inspect the cords, they may be cracking in there also. Which would explain why they won't hold air even with tubes. the tubes could be getting pinched inside by cracks and leaking.

What's important is what's on the INSIDE. Tires can look like a war zone on the outside but be like new on the inside.

If the inner carcass of the tire is compromised, it will tear up a tube in short order. That's probably what the seller is trying to tell you.

When you take tires to the landfill here they must be unloaded separate from rest of trash and you pay according to size. $10 for car tires, $50 each for those in picture up to a $1k dollars for those monsters on earth movers.

Couple years ago I rounded up what I had laying around (I think some fell off air planes because I don't remember having that many) :cautious:. Neighbor asked what I was doing with them. When i told him how much disposal was going to cost he said if I would take him and boss lady to dinner one night he would take care of them. He neatly stacked them at end of his driveway ,put prices on them and added a string of pendant flags. Someone stole the whole bunch. :ROFLMAO:

Our county has their annual tire collection coming up in a month. All I have this year is a pair of 11L-15s We'll see what it costs this year.
