Titan Tires Again...

Ok, for everyone below who loves Titan tire... I've got to ask, seriously, how many are actually carrying a load on these tires that would come close to their rated carrying capacity? Anyone?
I'd suspect that most aren't carrying their advertised capacity by half, and that's why they don't blow... Put a good load on them and they blow.
I can't complain about Titan's ability to pull. I had a set of the long bar/short bar on a tractor and they wore well and pulled well, but were a bit rough on the road... but that's true of all long bar/short bar tires that I've seen.

For me, it's Firestone or Michelin radials, depending on which I expect to have a lower operating cost over the next 10-15 years.
Right now it's mostly Michelin because I have a very good dealer who prices them very well, and is actually a bit ashamed of the prices for those tires... I won't complain as long as I get 2-3 times the life from them that I would get from a Firestone Field and Road.

So, fire away!

I believe my 850 has the long bar/short bar titans on it... can't remember size off the top of my head.. but think they are 13.6-28's .. not sure what load capacity is on them?

I move 700-1000# hay bales with the tractor?.. it's a ford 850..

I own 8 Titan ST trailer tires. I've owned them three or four years. So for none has given trouble, and they don't warm up while loaded at speed on the road. They are radial.

Not sure how they will work out but I just put four new Titans on my Farmall 300. Even if they aren't the best I can't complaing because they were all free! Titan sponsor FFA tractor restoration projects and if you mention them in your workbook and put a Titan sticker on your tractor, they will give you four free tires of whatever size you need.

We've actually gotten along quite well with the Titan's we have around. I bought a set of 15.5*38 long bar/long bar in '98, and we put them on a Ford 4000 that we use to mow almost all of our hay with, and until about '01 it raked all of it as well. It gets alot of road time from field to field and they seem to be wearing okay. it sits out during haying season, but is inside during the spring/fall/winter. We feed about 150 1000-1200# bales with it each winter, and so far are pretty satisfied with their performance. Dad put a set of 18.4*38 long/short bars on the 4440 a couple years back, and you can tell that they tend to chatter a bit going down the road, but not too bad overall. We've also got a set on the 8N, but it doesn't get used enough to matter much anymore.

We've got some on our 165- LB/SB. It's a loader so no the rears aren't fully loaded all the time, when the PTO works we use it to run the manure spreader in the winter which I'm pretty sure it loads the tires close to their max. Otherwise they see pretty rough service on the farm and seem just fine.

We've got a dead 1755 in back that has the same style with armstrong on the side yet, and they were just fine too. One got a small slit inbetween the treads though and after sitting in the sun for several years it blew a leak. Really should get it fixed befor ethe rim rots out fromt he fluid, but at the same time it doesn't run..... it's a real dilema but I should fix it before winter starts.
