TN75DA overheating

I have a 2007 New Holland TN75DA tractor. Last week while baling hay noticed the engine temp. gauge in the red, stayed there for a minute or so and went back normal. I replaced the thermostat, still went to hot. replaced the temp sending unit, still pegs to red and back to cold, even after only 5 minutes of run time. At this point I"m stumped, maybe wiring or dash unit ? I checked the engine temp with a thermo gun, read about 180-190,should be normal, I think.

Which temp sender did you swap out? The one that signals the gauge is located in the top of the cylinder head. The one in the water pump is for the cold start advance unit on the injection pump.

The one I replaced was on the water pump, near the thermostat housing. As per my New Holland dealer. Guess that would explain why it still goes to hot on start up. Thanks !
I'll be calling my dealer Monday morning.

Thanks again Rick B. for the info. I got the new sending unit from New Holland, the correct one for the gauge. Can you tell me which side of the head the sender is located ? The parts books shows it on the left side, above the oil filter. With the turbo, a/c, and all the other stuff crammed on the engine, it must be buried.
