this is the TO 20 ran out of oil 3 years ago, as i understand it, oil was poured into spark plug holes-tractor parked in barn 3 years.
:--This year a mechanic had it 6 mmonths, gotthe tractor running. ran good for a few hours grading driveway, then began running rough-but idle OK--would idle but when gear engaged ran rough-backfired a few times.
: to be sure of basics,-changed plugs to Autolite 3116--blew out fuel line, new fuel(again)added ratio of Heet.
: same thing, idle well, but rough when gear engaged.
: new spark plugs fairly carboned up, but #3 plug oily, and curiously, spark plug mashed down--tried it again, same thing---took tractor to new mechanic with local reputation.
: mechanic took head off-found #3 has big sloppy weld up near spark plug opening(i went and looked at it)-but previously, weld did not interfere with piston stroke--
there are two bent valve stems, being replaced-compression test before head taken off showed cylinders pretty much same compression.
: presently , theory's are,
---there might have been a big hard piece of carbon in cylinder-causiing plug to mash down.
---valves might have been "locking up"
---combination of things going on might have been cause
tractor going on dyno? to check out what they have.
---am going to pick up tractor today, based on reputation of mechanic, am hopeing for the best.

will post what was found out, and how much it cost to get tractor out of shop-im kind of worried at this point, but the "dye is cast".
---thanks for all the help , would not have any perspective without this site.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND GOOD LUCK FOR NEW YEAR
