I would like to find the age for my tractor, there is a date of April 7,1949 on the access plate for the rear end. I was told that if I got the numbers off the distributor side of the engine somebody might tell me the year it was made. I know the engine is a Z120A-600,the only other numbers are:0250X. Any information will be appreciated.

Do you still have the serial number plate on the dash above the steering wheel? This will best date the machine. First serial number of 1948 is 1; '49 is 1801; '50 is 14660; '51 is 39163

Serial number format is: T0-1809 (for example).
This info is on this site: look to your left, under research & info. Hope this helps you.

With some tractors, like say the Ford 8N which moved the distributor in mid 1950, or the 9N which had aluminum sheet metal early on, knowing the age exactly could be handy. The hydraulics in the MH/MF-50 changed slightly after a certain serial number. But I don't think your tractor changed significantly during the production run. (Someone might correct me on that, as I don't own a 20, but I believe that's the case.) Knowing the exact date is really not that important, frankly, except to write it on the ticket you put on the tractor at a show. My 2 cents. You can buy the serial number plates..., if you get my drift.

Does the TO20 have a casting date on the transmission, similar to the TE/TEA20??

I thought someone mentioned on this forum that the TO20 had a transmission casting date, but the date format was MM / DD / Y, rather than the British format of DD / MM / Y?

My TO-20 has a date of April 7,1949 under the seat on top of the rear end I have looked all over the tractor and that is the only date I can find wether it is a casting date for the plate or transmission build date I don t know. I don t have a builders plate under the steering wheel, the only other numbers I have are the engine size Z120A-600, and 025X on the distributor side of the engine, which is the left side of the tractor
