TO 30 Three point Hitch problem

I recently aquired a TO 30. While raising the 3 point hitch it operates OK without any attachmets hooked to it. If I stand on the lower arms it will stop raising and stay exactly at the height when I got on. If I get off it will continue to raise. It will not go back down without lowering the control lever. I have not tried it with any equipment attached to it but if my body weight (170 lb.) will not allow it to raise I believe something is wrong. Any ideas or suggestions anyone?

Make sure the control spring at the back is adjusted correctly. Check for leaks in the lift cylinder. Do an archive search on how to do these things.
