TO-35 Hyd. pressure test

I would like to temporarly install a pressure guage on my 35 to check hydraulic pressure. What is the best location(on the tractor) to do this at?

i do not know where to add a hyd gauge to system

but if you put a set of forks on the 3 pt hitch then try to lift a big log

if the lift will pull the front end of the little tractor off the ground your lift is still in good shape.

I was going to tell you to go into the archives under Research & Info then click "Search This Site" but that is no longer there. HMMMMMM

On the front of the Top Cover (to which the seat is attached) there are two plugs, one either side, each has a hexagon hole, also on the top left side there is a plug on some that has two flats for a wrench, all of these are pressure points. It will depend on th age of the tractor as to how much pressure there is, early ones had 200Opsi and the later ones 2500psi., you cant increase the pressure on the early ones without changing the Top Cover and some other parts, they would not be strong enough..John

Thanks, John
After reading some of your past posts I think that my safety (pressure relife valve) might be leaking by. Mine is a 1960 model I assume it should be 2500psi? I don't want to change it just verify.

If the problem you are having is the hydraulics are not lifting as much as they should, then it could be the Safety Valve but not necessarily just that will cause it. You could have an oil leak elsewhere, the result will be the same. It could be an "O" ring leaking or the Non-return Valves in the Side Chambers either sticking or worn on the seats, it could also be the Control Valve leaking through the separating disc's (from a high pressure area to a low pressure area) all these could cause the system to drop or not lift to capacity. The Safety Valve can leak if it wears due to it being discharged too often or continuously due to the Control Levers being set incorrectly, this can happen, as you can forget over the years the correct way to use it or if you bought the tractor used, then you may not have been given the Book for it. I can let you have the information for operating the Hydraulics correctly, if you need it. If you tell me exactly what the hydraulic system is doing, I may be able to work out just what you need to do to put it right. I can send you the written information for whatever the problem(s) is when I know exactly what is happening.Just email me direct at the address below if you need [email protected]
