TO-35 stumbling

My TO-35 will stumble and sometimes die when it is cold out. Say below 30f. It starts, idles, and runs fine, but when I let the clutch out to start it wants to die. It will lug fine if I get past this point. It does not do this in warm weather. It has new plugs and wires. Any sugestions? Thanks!

Use your choke. Remember your hydraulic oil is cold and if you don"t have live hydraulics, disconnect your pto and that will take the hydraulic load of the engine. I have a TO-30 and I have similar behavior in cold weather. I use the choke and hold the clutch down til it warms up a bit. If I can"t sit on the tractor , I just disconnect the pto and let it warm up. If I have to move it, I have to choke it til it warms up. If you in high humidity areras, you can also get some carb icing and you just have to let the engine warm up a bit. These old machine aren"t built like the modern cars with their electronic controls, so you have to let them warm up before you can put a load on them.

It maybe that your Carb is set a bit weak for the air temperature now, try opening the main jet 1/8 of a turn (anti-clockwise)The large knurled knob on top of the Carb.....John

Thanks for the help. i will try a little bit richer air fuel mixture. Jerry, thanks for the detailed info.. It it doing this after it is warmed up.
