TO 35 With Davis 102 Loader

Hey all,

I recently bought my first tractor, a ferguson to35 with a davis 102 loader. I removed the loader last night, and because of the way the hoses were routed, i had to disconnect 4 of them. I have a couple questions for when i start to re-assemble.

1) the 1 1/4 return hose to the hydraulic pump for the loader was routed under the front axle. This required me to drain the hydraulic fluid and remove it. Do they make some sort if quick disconnect for this lower pressure hose or does anyone have any suggestions to when i hook it back up?

2) All 4 hydraulic cylinders leak, but 2 are far worse than the others. I have a manual i found online that gives part numbers but i am having a hard time locating the parts needed for a rebuild. I called a local hydraulic shop and they said it would be " a couple hundred dollars to rebuild". Seemed very vague but also expensive. Does anyone know of a rebuild kit or have any insight into this?

3) is there any way to run the loader off of the tractors hydraulics rather than from its front hydraulic pump? Doing this would eliminate the problem with the return hose

4) i removed the hydraulic pump from the front of the tractor once i drained the fluid because i thought it would be bad to run it with no fluid in it. Is it bad to run a hydraulic pump dry or does it not effect it negatively?

Thanks

I have the Ferguson loader on mine and i think it's about like yours . I never got the front pump with it when i bought it so i have a " Prince " P.T.O. mounted pump . Installed the tank above it and did use a quick disconnect on the 1 1/4 hose and all the others . By doing it that way i can quickly disconnect the hoses and pull the pump off in about 5 minutes . Mount my brush hog and clean up the property . Off course i have to leave the loader bucket up so i can see under it .

1. Yes there are double shut off quick disconnects. That would make for easy removal and servicing, but you can not run it that way. The pump must have oil freely circulating through it any time it is running.

2. Depending on what condition the cylinders and rods are in determines the cost and practicality of rebuilding them. They have to come apart to find the condition. If you can get them apart, the hyd supply can provide the seals. You can probably get by with just resealing them unless there is a serious problem. The hyd shop has to stand behind their work, so they can't short cut. If it were mine I would do my best to repair them myself. Check with Youtube, or a friendly hyd shop will coach you through it.

3. You can run it off the belly pump, but you have to tie the 3 point arms down, add an external pressure tap, and be ready for it to work in slow motion. If it doesn't have a 2 stage clutch, it will only work with the clutch engaged. Not recommended.

4. Never run a pump dry or dead headed against a quick coupler.
