To Adern Ref: Dual/Aux Pump

Adern,
The dual pump is a Cessna. The front pump supplies hyd to Muti-Power and IPTO. The rear pump supplies high pressure via the side cover (in background of photo) to external cylinders. This requires an external directional valve.

The advantage it that the Cessna flows 9 gpm while the lift pump flows around 4 gpm.

I believe you are correct about the valve located on the front right of the lift cover.

Tom,

Thanks for the great pictures and information. I have a couple of questions, if you do not mind.

First, is this pump in addition to the standard pump for the 3-point, or is it instead of the standard 3-point pump.

Second, how can I tell if my tractor has this pump installed? I have the independant PTO (not the live PTO) but the 8-speed transmission (not the multi-power). Is there a place I can look for it without too much disassembly? The dealer where i bought the tractor told me sojmething about a hydraulic clutch and pump for the PTO.

I tried to attach a picture of my side cover, but was told I was too new a member to attach photos My cover has bosses on the side in the location where the ports are in your picture, but they are not drilled/tapped for fittings, except the one that appears to be the return.

Thanks for your assistance.

The Cessna pump is in addition to the lift pump. I suspect that you have the same pump that is in my 150. It is a factory installed Wooster 4 gpm pump. It supplies only the IPTO and or Muti-Power.

There should be a small port on the IPTO lever cover. It is just for testing the pump pressure with the IPTO engaged, around 280 psi. In the picture attached, you can see a 1/4" tube leading to the side cover, this is the test port.

If you are young and flexable, you can remove the right side cover and have a peak. You can't remove the left cover without removing the lift cover. I tried and trashed the 1/4" steel tube.

I am not an expert on these pump systems, just what I have learned working on it.
