TO20 540 PTO Conversion Cap Threads?

Does anyone know what thread size is used in the 540 PTO conversion shaft "plate" for the 20-series Fergusons? It must be slightly larger than the original Ferguson part, based on all the complaints I've read from folks who ordered the stock cover. I got the soup can unbolted from mine this weekend and found someone's already done the shaft conversion. Seems like a proper cover is the next logical step.

I believe you might find there are 3 different caps to go over the PTO. I believe the one your after is the deepest version and you might
find it on this site.

I did the conversion on my TO-20, and ended up with an extra cap. If you can determine that this is the correct cap for your tractor, you can have this one for the cost of shipping it to you.

Thanks for the generous offer, Tom! I found a few listings online under this part number that say it's 2.5" diameter and for various PTO conversion kits, but then also some claiming it will fit every Ford and Ferguson tractor ever made. I'll pull that soup can today after work, take some measurements of my threads, and let you know...

I like your soup can guard. I took my original cap, cut it in half and added in about a 1/2" length of another similar diameter pipe and welded it back together. A little work on the sander and it looks almost like the original cover.

I couldn't find an exact thread size anywhere for that part number Tom, but did find several listings stating it was 2.5" in diameter. I finally got around to measuring my threads today and the inside diameter is 2-5/8" so I'm guessing your cap won't fit this particular plate. Many thanks for the offer, though. It may be easier to just make one at work whenever I get a chance to pull the plate and can take it in for precise measuring of the threads...
