TO30 Brake Assembly Procedure

After completely removing, cleaning and painting the brake parts from my TO30 I installed the backing plate, cross shaft and pawl bearing housing, new shoes, put the drums on and adjusted the shoe clearance. Then the main brake lever, actuator rods and left and right pedals. So far the rods, left and right pedals and pawl housing are not fully secured. What's the procedure to get those oriented and adjusted? It would seem like you'd start by clamping the pawl housing to the cross shaft at a particular angle but I haven't seen anything that specifies that. For now when you step down on the main lever, the left and right pedals go up. Is that right?

Right and left individual pedals go up when you push down on the main brake pedal .This is correct.
I can take a photo of my TO 20 linkage if that would help.

If I find that feature very helpful under certain conditions. The left side especially so under tricky conditions.

There are times when I need a tight quick turn that I reach down and lift the appropriate pedal with my hand.

Finished the brake controls assembly and everything works as advertized. I think that tryiing to test it with a loose clamp or two was the problem. A little wierd action but they do the job. Thanks for your thoughts.

One unrelated question is the clutch cross shaft. Mine extends past the lever clamp and there's a 3/8 hole through it. Is it allow you to hold the shaft rotation in the released position before clamping it?

Yes that is how you adjust the clutch. I use a punch thru the hole. What is the bracket with hole welded to radius arm?? I am curious.

As Duner WI posted, you use that hole when adjusting clutch pedal free play. Do you have a manual? Below is a picture from the manual.

Yes I have a manual. Six in fact: Owners, Shop and Parts in hard copy and on my iPad. No excuses.

The bracket on the radius arm is the anchor point for the power steering cylinder, not attached yet. I have a front end loader (see ID pic) which makes it hard to steer without it.
