TO30 new replacement gas tank problem.

I bought a new gas tank from this site. The tank has 2 holes in the bottom. (Assuming to accommodate different sediment bowl locations). I also bought a new sediment bowl assembly.

My problem is the threads on the tank don't match the threading on the sediment bowl. Has anyone run into this ?

I haven't replaced a tank, so no. I would have to guess that one is SAE and the other is metric.
Hi Jim ... Would YT sell a TO30 tank and a TO30 sediment bowl with different threads ? The site says the sediment bowl's a 3/8" NPT male inlet, but no specs on the tank.

Would they do it knowingly? No. If you are in the business of selling things it is probably in your best interest to attempt to sell the correct parts that fit the machine and work together. Might they do it unknowingly the chances are pretty good. To keep the cost of the replacement parts for these old tractors in the reasonable range the parts like many things these days are sourced overseas. Ever assemble something from overseas with instructions that were obviously written by someone who isn’t the master of the English language? If so, I think right there is where you will find the most likely answer. Whoever sent the spec sheet to the manufacturer abroad very likely had the proper thread diameter and type on there. Then it went through the channels above ..this looks close.. bingo.. the results are the type of problems you have encountered. And YT was probably not the one that sent the spec sheet. This may not be 100 percent true but to a degree YT is sourcing their Fergy gas tanks out of the same shipping container of them where Steiner, Bates and the whole host of other old tractor parts sellers get theirs. If not the price for the part would probably make you faint.

Hi MN .. Makes perfect sense ... I'll bring a tap & die out to get it fixed.

This is what I have

That appears to be the correct tank . TED tanks have two compartments, two filler caps and two outlets .
It seems that somewhere in Pakistan the wrong threads are being cut .

It seems so. On Saturday when I go back out to the ranch, I'll retaliate the holes and check the plug and sediment bowl with a die. Hopefully that fixes it. Up to this point I've been very happy with YT's products.

I meant re-tap the holes

Would they do it knowingly? Yes and no. I first found out about this problem back in March and brought it to their attention, but I doubt that the rep I talked to did anything about it. I recently placed the order again for new tank and sediment bowl assembly. Before placing the order, I called and talked to a sales person and he assured me the parts I was buying matched. I didn't believe him. So, on the order form, there is a place to add additional instructions. I wrote, "Please make sure these parts match" (or something like that). The tank and bowl assembly arrived today. They don't match. I've been on the phone with customer service and expecting a return call. I believe it's an internal communications problem...nobody talking to each other about a customer's complaint. Just refund their money.

The issue is, the sediment bowl assembly has ⅜" NPT thread. The tank has ⅝" - 18 UNF thread.

Usually the response is " Well no one else has complained " !
Customer service ; at least here in Australia , died a slow death along with the pandemic and the rise of ' work from home ' .
