TO30 opinions needed

Looking for a tractor for my son to rake hay and use to haul feed for his pigs and maybe clip some pasture with a sickle mower. I dont know anything about these little tractors. He has a Massey 175 for his big tractor that he bales with. Would the TO30 make a good little raking and chore tractor?

They are good tractors, I have two. All things being equal, I prefer my TO-35 with the live power takeoff tho. 60-70 year old tractors tend to come with maintenance issues and I'd take a TO-30 that is in good operating condition over a tired TO-35.

Facebook marketplace/Craigslist usually have several to choose from in varying conditions.

Good luck.

I had a TO-30 and I liked it, traded it off on a larger John Deere one that would pull a 3 bottom plow instead of a 2 bottom The T0-30 is a 4 speed transmission but can have a Sherman over drive, or under drive or a combination and the high or combo would give a nicer speed for raking. If you get it make sure you get either the factory or after market swinging drawbar foe drawbar work, do not use the 11 hole cross drawbar for that The35 that the other poster mentioned has a bit more horsepower and a 6 speed transmission and no Sherman option. Swinging drawbar same was as the 30. I have had live PTO tractors and never found a good reason for that some posters think is a must on any tractor. Built it pto is a 1 1/8 inch so would need correct adapter for any mower.

All good tractors and would not mind owning any or all of them. I think for what they are talking the Ferguson would be better for the boy.
