To30 starting ussue

I have a 53to30
Usually always starts right up, i go to start last night to plow and it started but didnt take and then i go to start again and doesnt do anything, doesnt seem to turn over at all. So i put charger on it and went to bed, this m i try and it turns over a little but sounds like your tossing a box of rocks around and fan just goes around a couple times slow and then stops. Starter or flywheel maybe?
Its been maybe a month since used it last but never an issue before
Any thoughts?

Put volt meter on battery at rest. I assume it's still six volt system. Should show at least 6.3 volts. Ground cable connections often
give trouble after sitting. Symptoms sound a little like linkage from carb to governor may have popped free. Check that. All ok with
those checks, you need to trace the electrical to starter to make sure you are getting voltage there. You can try jumping from 12 volt
car/truck by bypassing the ignition. Put one cable on top post of starter and touch the other to good ground (with key on). Make sure
tractor is out of gear or it could hurt you. If it starts that way, problem either in battery or connections.

After only 65 years of use the ground cable on mine got corrosion in the battery connector. A new ground cable cured that. It happened a month after my neighbor's TO30 did the same thing. Being that my tractor is a couple years older than yours, you may need the same repair.

Make sure the wire ends are all shiny and clean. Start with the battery wires & both ends of them. If your ground wire is still hooked to the dash either clean the dash where it hooks on or move the end to a much better ground.

Without being there to hear/see it, could be several things.

Look for weak connections, loose cables, dirty battery posts. Check the starter contactor, it could be arcing instead of making solid connection.

If it is more a mechanical sound, could be the starter nose cone is broken.

Its 12v
I added in a new ground this summer.
Definitely seems lik more of a mechnical sound than a loose connection.
I only had limitwd time before work. Ill see if can pull starter in the morning. Almost seemd like flywheel disnt wanna spin or was jumping teeth or something was my guess

There was also a problem with the flywheel gear working back from where it is supposed to be seated on the flywheel.

It should be flush against the step machined on the flywheel.

Usually it can be pried back into place through the starter hole.
