TO35 Battery

I just bought my first tractor a to35. The battery needs to be replaced. Do I have to take off the whole hood to reach or there another way?

The hood on the TO35 I own hits the front bumper-brush guard when you tilt it up I think removing the two bolts that hold the bumper will let the hood tilt foward futher and you can gain acess to the battery that way, if thats the case with your TO.

there should be 2 threaded rods with wing nuts that hold the hood in the closed position. Loosen those and the hood will tilt forward. I place a 4 by 4 block across gas tank to insure the hood does not slam shut. You will have plenty of room to replace battery.

Yeah you were correct. However the previous owner replaced the wind nuts with two square headed nuts and a washer. After a couple of squirts of rust busters and some elbow grease the nuts came loose. After tonight I will be replacing the ecurrent nts for some winged ones.

If your bumper is tall and does NOT allow for hood to tilt forward enough for your liking-you can flip it over 1/2 a turn and rebolt it.
Usually there is a shorter and taller profile to a bumper.
