TO35 Carb Problems

I have TO35 S/N149806 I think a 1955 I would like to know what model of Marvel Schebler carb should it have? It has a TSX683 on it now. The tractor is running very rich and fowls the plugs. Idles good but will not run good under load. Checked timing, plug wires, coil, compression, vacuum and dwell all have been checked and set to specs. Carb was rebuilt. I think it is in the carb but don't know. I still have to make sure the choke is set right and that air cleaner hoses to the carb are not clogged. I cleaned the air cleaner and put new oil in it. Any other ideas?

Go by a catalog I have it says that carb is correct for your machine it could also be a TSX605. Many tractor could come with 2 or more types and brands of carbs. This catalog lists 3 different carbs for the TO35

For testing, disconnect the hose from the air cleaner and make sure the choke is fully open. Have you made any adjustments to the carburetor? Does it sputter and blow black smoke when you throttle up? If so, try turning the high speed needle, larger knob on the front side of the carb, clockwise and see if it helps. I will usually warm it up, move the throttle to the wide open position and adjust the high speed needle at about 1/4 turn increments until it runs clean, then keep doing that until it falters again from being too lean, then find the happy medium spot and leave it there.
Depending on your climate, you may find you have to make an adjustment if you run it in cold temperatures in the winter (bit more rich or screw counter clockwise) and back again for the summer months.

My to35 is serial number 159714 and it has the TSX605. I did buy a new one because it was almost cheaper then getting the carb kit. I also have electronic ignition, no points...

I looked for the following on ebay:
533969M91 Carburetor For Massey Ferguson Tractor 35 40 50 F40 50 135 150 202 204

Here was my tuning procedure from another post somewhere on the internet, I don't remember original author's name credit goes to him...

Setting the Carburetor
Marvel-Schebler:
Idle Air: Approx. 1 full turn open from closed or until the engine idles smoothly when warm.
Main Jet: 1-1/4 turns open-fine tune after she warms up to a smooth idle.
It is noted that too lean of a main jet setting (less than 1 full turn open) will reduce power, cause the engine to run hotter than norm, and eventually cause burnt valves.
The manual says it should NEVER be less than 1 full turn open on the main jet.
Field test: "Field test tractor under normal load by quickly moving the throttle from half open to fully open position--if engine coughs or stalls, open main jet another 1/16 and repeat test. Repeat steps until engine responds immediately to acceleration and runs smoothly."
Glad to give some help back.

When you adjust the main jet, screw the power jet adjusting screw in completely (engine off)but don't jam it down tight, just make contact and then screw it out about 1-1/4 turns. Start it up and let it warm up then accelerate the engine. If it coughs or sputters, try alternately leaning/enriching it by a sixteenth of a turn to see if it improves but don't go below one full turn out.
