Just got the new front pto seals in the 35, drained old fluid and put in 5 gallons of GL4 from napa. I already am getting a drip about 1 and hour out the codderpin hole.Do the new seals need to swell some or am I to expect it to get worse over time?

Hey 2, you ever see the old film clip of the 2 steam trains smashing into each other at full speed? do you think... if mine ever starts, and .... tie the steering wheels???? Maybe sell some tickets?

run it awhile and see what happens with the oil leak,

I keep the oil level at the center point on the dip stick with the lift arms in the lower position. this level of oil slows the drip.

these old tractors are over 50 years old and most have worked hard, i would not worry too much about the leak for the time being.

i had the seals replaced on my to 35, 1957 model, but still have some leakage.

check your owners manual, i believe its gl-1 oil for the trans/hyd system

you must protect the brass bearings in the trans, that is why you need gl-1 (it is designed to protect those bearings) check it out.

new types of hyd oil are not designed to do double duty, they are only for hyd systems.
very important!!!!!

Everything was clean, I asked for GL-1 but they only had the GL-4 which is 90 wt.I used form-a-gasket instead of new ones.Tony, you should sell tickets already. I can't wait till the final chapter with pics of you beatin the snot out of the cv.Look at it this way Tony, as long as we are fighting these problems we won't be destroying any other tractors.

Hope you wrapped some tape round the splines to keep them from cutting the new seal as you passed the shafts through!
Sam
