Jon, I know where all my sockets and other tools are. They are somewhere in my shop where the shop grimlins hid them.
I cleaned up some yesterday in my shop. Found a few things.

Why should the 10mm be any different than any other socket? They all seem to magically disappear. Happy trucking, if they ever let you back on the highway.

I know where the 10mm is, recently needed a 5.5mm, had to take another vehicle to town and buy one. Had to buy a whole set to get one.

Then why did I just find nine assorted 9/16 combination wrenches in my tool box? None belonged to any of the sets of "good" wrenches I keep organized. They were all "strays".

Because they jump into the hand against reason to be tried as a potential fit on a 3/8 nut. Then when they really don't fit they wander away from the location looking lost, then become confused and actually get lost in the fender "well". Jim

Well 8mm and 5/16 are so close but there are times when you are working with really rusted bolts and what ever size you can hammer on is the size you need! Done that more than a few times.

When I was a kid I remember Dad went into town one day and bought a whole handful of cheap 9/16" wrenches. He came home and put one in the toolbox of every tractor and implement on the place.

10mm sockets are like phillips screw drivers, which turn to slot screw drivers when the lights are out, 10mm change to 13mm which know you can use a 1/2 in their place.

I have one of those- don't use it routinely, but its very handy when you've got a mangled nut, rounded off, etc.- Even though it looks like something from an infomercial, it actually works!

That little 5.5 is a real odddddd ball. I have found them in the tool guys table. Have to dig through is tubs full of tools. They are .50 cents for 5he small sockets and $100. To $1.50 for bigger sockets. All kins from S&K, proto, craftsman, husky, williams, and on and on. I do lots of flea market shopping.

If it was a half inch,I could tell you for sure that it was under the variable speed drive pulley on the combine. It rode there for a year.

3/4 inch is the one that wanders off around here, bought ten of them at sears a couple years ago, and I bet I could find maybe 3 of them in an hour if I had to.

All my 5.5mm are marked 7/32" and that's what I use.

UMPH ! I can take a socket from my toolbox use it to remove a nut or bolt, turn around to pick the replacement part off the bench, turn back to replace the same said nut or bolt and the dang thing will disappear in thin air. They are magic I tell you!
