IMHO this is the funniest so far! Every time I held the flashlight for Dad, he would always say, "Hold the flashlight where I’m looking!" Then he would ask a question I never answered, "Who was the stupid sob that taught you how to hold a flashlight?"

I can't remember a whole lot of my childhood, but I can relate from having the wife hold a light for me. But rather than saying to shine the light where I'm looking, I kept asking her to shine the light on my hands. If I move my hands, then move the light to match.

......I now have 3 very good and powerful headlamps! *lol*

My dad was an electrician and he would take me to work with him sometimes.
I would break into a sweat anytime I saw him reaching for the flashlight.

I used to be the tool go getter for dad. Be fixing in the field or the yard, go to the shop,or machine shed and get this or that.

When he got frustrated my dad was more apt to speak in German, this whole community here was German and brought the language along with them, was common to hear German spoken on the street into the 1990s or so before that generation died out, the 2-3 generations before me had a lot of the gErman language in them.

Anyhow, as he got mad at fixing some stubborn part he would tell me to go get something, but it came out in German, which I didn’t understand.

Well, you don’t want to ask questions or poke the bear when a frustrated German is trying to fix something and got his dander up on the project.

So I learned pretty quick what possible tool could be needed for the job at hand and bring an arm full along back, because you sure didn’t want to come back with only the wrong tool either...... you would hear more and louder German words......

The good old days! fun times.

hese modern high intensity small LED flashlights save a lot of bad words....I can hold light in mouth & self direct! Love them.

Ditto jmor, I carry a 2” Streamlight on my belt at all
times. I never ever walk in the dark without it on and
use it frequently to read small numbers etc.

For me it was not a flashlite but a "trouble lite" Oh my god this is bringing up bad memories. "Go get the trouble lite and an extension chord and plug it in over there" "turn it so the lite doesn't shine in my face" "Now you turned it to far" "Can't you see it isn't even shining on that bolt?"

my grandpa was scot Swedish when he was working on some machine every once in awhile one of my brothers or me would go check in on him to make sure he didn't want us for something.
everything that is said about a scot fiery temper is true. I have passed it on to Tall Kid
