Todays funny

Why can't those crazy health nuts just accept that GMOs in their grains, hormones in their meats and dairy, nitrates and ag chemicals in their drinking water, pesticides in their food water and yards, polluted streams lakes and rivers, mandates to buy ethanol and bio-fuels, and paying taxes to support farmers are all necessary because the world owes US farmers a living? They should learn to like it and shut up! LOL.

The wild plum tree we had on the farm in the pasture gave us plums that were smaller than a Banty egg. They were juicy, sweet, and succulent. Mom made great jam with those plums. Conversely she could go to Jerrys Market and get plums bigger than oranges that we could play ball with and tasted like the wash rag from the milk house, but the general public knows them as plums.

Look at a wild apple tree and a what is sold for apple trees at the nursery and you can see the difference.

The culture has given corn a boost through genetics and now these panty wastes that our culture has also bread up have a problem with what they perceive. Lets see Pat, Pat, or Pat eat their caramel corn or corn on the cob without genetics.

Thats funny.

Lot of good organic farmers around, hats off to them. I do get frustrated with some of their misleading advertising or claims at times, but most are good hard working folk trying to do a good job with the artificial, limits imposed on them.

But humor is a way to poke a bit of fun at a bit of truth, and that meme of a portion of uninformed shoppers is a good one. :)

When you really think about it, all the changes have been made to gain time and to use machines. GmO roundup resistant being really the worst exemple of an oversimplified solution, fueled by greed and creating failures down the road.

In the near future, with IA and robots coming up plus climate change, it will be possible to go back to more fruits picking, diversified small fields with many edgerows, multi croping, open range cattle grazing to maintain forest and drylands and reduce wildfires, etc... There is more solutions than problems, but all of them will create deep changes.
The worst could be that all this technology is used for greedy purposes...

our local organic farmer has created a disaster. johnson grass im talking solid JOHNSON GRASS and if you know anything about johnson grass you are in trouble. it dont stop at fence rows birds carry seeds animals eat it and carry seeds. its bad cause due to the fact he is certified organic the noxious weed law turns blind eye n ear on this

(quoted from post at 07:12:28 04/30/23) Where is and what is a noxious weed law ?
rom USDA: USDA requires permits for the importation and/or interstate movement of Federal noxious weeds (FNWs) - aquatic and wetland, parasitic and terrestrial- under the authority of 7 CFR 360. You will find a list of the regulated taxa in 7 CFR 360.200.

This reminds me of the local county park. Someone who ran the place 20 years ago and has now moved on had the brainy idea to plant 4 acres of red cedar trees on a little border area. The rest of us in a 10 mile radius now still get to share in this "wonderful idea" every time the birds fly from there over our place. Thanks!

That picture is inaccurate. We had good sweet corn like that shown on the right long before GMO was even thought about.

Please don't try to tell me that a hybrid is the same thing as GMO. Hybrid is cross breeding two or more different strains to produce a better strain. THAT IS NOT GMO!!

GMO is gene splicing on the microscopic level and using DNA/RNA from completely different species to create a whole new variety. Some of that DNA comes from birds, lizards, frogs or goats. I suspect that if they push it far enough, we will have vegetables that pick themselves when ripe and walk on their own into the barn for sale or food.

Personally, given a choice, I would prefer NOT to eat GMO foods if only because they are not totally proven to be safe and not cause big problems after years of consumption.

That is MY opinion.
