I got a reply today that I am not responsible for the N Carolina toll bill I got awhile back, guess they figured out I don't own that truck after all like I TOLD them. After reviewing the account further the charge has been waived.

Good for you ! I get a lot of scams for tolls. Can you imagine the amount of money paid for so called tolls that aren’t valid ? Crazy !

Couple years ago we got scammed when we had just been down to Florida I suppose it’s that time of year. Hadn’t ever used the toll by plate system anywhere (we dont travel much) and was expecting a bill in the mail. We got a text with a link. Ok strange but didn’t think much of it nowadays. We never received a bill in the mail later in the news “beware of people sending fake texts this is a scam floridas toll by plate we never text”

I went out to my wife’s car and noticed her license plates had a slight bend (the high school kids on the right sidewalk walk by the front of all the cars, my half ton pickup and the plate was always bent it would catch your jeans when I went to school in the same place) but the cameras pointed at the back I thought. I don’t know if the Cruze is low enough to the ground? Neither of us have been speed camera-Ed since we have owned it so…when we go back in the next couple years I was going to stop at the turnoff where they sell the transponder deal and hopefully that works it’s supposed to be cheaper but I had thought more hassle…turns out it’s not!!!

The first thing to ask yourself is how does this outfit have my cell phone number? Our company has daily fraud training. If you answer the wrong text or email you will automatically get a notification that you have a new hour training class to take. I read things pretty slowly now days

Exactly. If I was never there, I completely ignore them. My daughter in law got an email notification of one in Florida. First off, how did they get her email address? She called the number they gave her and they told her it was a mistake, but now they have her number and know the email address is good.

That said, I got an email a week ago tomorrow from the campus police at Central Michigan University saying I owed $30 for a parking violation. I was there a week before that, but I went to the police station and got a permit. When I looked closer, it wasn't my car, wasn't my plate number, wasn't the lot I parked in and wasn't the date that I was there. I got on the site you go to to pay them and you can protest. I did and told them all of that. I got another email the next day and they said they made a mistake, disregard the notice.

The reply I got was a letter in the mail, my cell has never been used in this case, always letters.

When I got my "false bill" I asked the collection agency how they could detect me with the toll. The reply was they take the license number to the department of motor vehicles and get a name . From there they go to the internet and get an address and or a telephone number, and never check if it is right or wrong. What a bunch of lazy idiots. BobTx
