Took the back wheel off.

I have a flat in my left rear tire on my 1948 8n and just took the wheel off to get it fixed (wheel is rusted pretty bad and will be replaced). Never took it off before and I'm just wondering now that it's off what kind of maintenence I can do on the hub?

I would pull the brake drum, and look for oil leaks and check the brake shoes for ware. Then grab a hold of the hub and see how tight it is fitting on the axle splines. If all is well, congratulate your good luck.

Check the hub for looseness with the wheel on so you have some leverage. Rock the top of the tire in & out. You'll know if there is slop.
Once the wheel is back on and the tractor is on the ground, make sure that the large nut holding the hub on is tight tight tight. If your locking clip on that nut is still intact, be sure to remove it before tightening or it will no longer be intact
