Tool Bar Markings

I got a tool bar, that is appears to painted orange, or faded red. I dont see a makers tag on it. What parts might have a number punch on them so I can identify what it might be. It has heavy spring teeth on it, with a diamond style bar. Im missing one tooth so Id like to get one as close as possible. Its a middle tooth that is shorter than length than three of the others. The other three are short. I was thinking its an IH

There are so many possibilities.

Maker part numbers tend to be on non wear surfaces, need to just snoop around really close, under rust and paint.

After a few decades a lot of bars can get rebuilt with shanks from another machine (or generic S or C spring shanks?) and then generic shovels from one of the 3 main suppliers, so it would be not surprising to find parts from 3 different companies.

My Dad had one like that.
I always thought it was a John Deere.

To my eye I see 6 of everything. What are you missing. The heavy spring shank, or just a small shovel on the end that works the dirt?

Edit - the center clamp, you need a center one, whole shank. I looked closer……

Old anhydrous tool bar for appying Anhyrous ammonia some one has changed the shank brackets to hold a shovel. Usually they had a pair of clamp brackets to hold the knife for injection anhyrous into the ground between the corn rows. 6 knives would take 60 HP or so to pull it in the ground and if you plane on using it for a deep tillage tool I think the bar will bend on it. We put a bow on a 3x3 tube frame just putting on anhyrous back when . so we put a couple wood 4x4's in between the tube and the sring coil to support it. I would want a double frame model for that today. That was another reason I hate 3PT implements. Had a pin come out and set the toole bar up beside me on the fender one day. I almost welded those pins in on it after that.

that thing looks older than anhydrous, typically anhydrous bars have holes through the side to hold the application shovels. This is set up with the typical tillage holes. But yes a lot of anhydrous bars use shanks that look close to these, and could be.

The old chisel plows from way back looked like this, JD and Allis and so forth. The few I have seen were so rusty it was difficult to identify them…… this one isn’t even that old, if it’s 3pt. So I’m actually not much help at all….

I never saw an anhydrous bar with staggered shanks like that. But ya, like you said, Deere and Allis used coil shanks.
