need 3pt.tool bar for allis chalmers model 74 unit planter. building a one row planter

Watch farmsales; check out implement dealers;Check out salvage/steel yards.For your purpose,A length of 2" thick wall hollow tubing will do the job.You will only need 3-4 feet,plenty strong to carry a planter unit.But if you just have to have 2 1/4" 'tool bar',Be warned that stuff is about $10.00 linear foot.You will also need an 'A-frame (hitch)

check out this tool bar, would be very easy to build one like it. It came with my John Deere planter, two row, each unit is attached to the tool bar and can be moved independent of the other.

Here is one I built this year for these planet Jrs. This one is just 2inch square tubing. Building a couple more for other applications as well.

Get yourself a suitable peice of 2.5" angle iron, and cut in half and weld them together forming a square tube, Weld on some irons and fit pins for your 3pt., and you should be good to go.

That is a factory bar.Lots of folks dont have the ability/rescourses to build something like that....

If I remember right we had a couple of Dearborn toolbars that were 2" and we just shimmed them up with a short piece of angle iron to make it work, that could be a cheaper option than buying the 2 1/4 bar.

When I converted from 6 rows to 4 I built my own from heavy wall 2 1/2 square tube, I bought 6 feet and it set me back $40, it sure beat trying to cut the original solid stock the planter was built on.
