When I was a kid, Dad got a brand new 770 Oliver. Mounted on the side of that new 770 tractor was a tool box with an Oliver logo painted on it. Was that tool box manufactured for (or by) Oliver? Or was it a promotional item offered by the dealer that sold the tractor? I would like to know if that item is still out there somewhere. Thanks!

It depends on size and where the tool box was mounted. If it was a large box and mounted on the main frame, it was after market.

On the tractors with out a 3 point hitch, the tool box was mounted under the seat. When the tractor had 3 point hitch the rockshaft was mounted where the tool box was. Oliver had a special tool box for those tractors. It had a plate welded along and below the side, and the box could be mounted on the fender support or on the side frame. This was simular to the mounting on the big tractors.

I remember Dad's tool box being mounted on the side of the main frame. But I have seen the type of tool box you describe mounted under the seat. Do you think it's possible to find such a tool box (side mounted) out there?
