Top Link Bracket

On my 1871 the top link bracket is broken (like that when I bought the tractor). The rod with spring is no longer attached to the top link bracket and angled to the left. Is this an indication something is wrong or is the spring tension causing it to be off center and it will line back up when I replace the bracket.

you need a new rocker, and as to whether something is broke, or if it will line up.. slip a tire iron into that hole and see if it budges.

It's possible they were towing something hooked there and it bent the plunger and broke the rocker.

So in other words.. check it and observe function.

You KNOW you need a new rocker at a minimum.
