Torque Amplifier

Not sure where all the access points are on this tractor for the Torque Amplifier? I have taken off the top plate but not sure if the plate underneath gives you access from the bottom? Anybody have any suggestions? I believe something is lodged between the housing and the moving parts of the TA.

Removing the plates gives visual access, and limited mechanical access. If nothing is found looking at it, I suspect either the TA one way clutch (between the trans and TA unit, or the direct clutch has grenaded (les likely) Best of luck, Jim

To remove the TA you will have to split the tractor into three parts, remove engine and then remove center TA housing. Only then can you remove the TA and it's clutch.

Check bolt and lockwasher that retains the PTO drive gear(cover under center of tractor after cluch). I have seen this bolt come out and lock things up twice. Once on my dad"s SMD-TA, locked up while cranking with starter, lucky no damage. Second time at a dealership, a 656D had been running a bushhog, lockwasher run through gears several times before bolt got between the gears and the case it made a mess of things.
Good luck
Dave

IF YOU REMOVE T SHAPED PLATE ON BOTTOM YOU WILL GET OIL, BUT YOU HAVE TO, TO REMOVE TA HOUSING.
