Just bought a JD 3020. It does not run. It has a syncro range transmission It is located just 2 miles from my place. It has a tow position, can I drag it home or do I need a flatbed? Thanks

IF you successfully get it in the ''TOW''
position AND the transmission/rear end is
full of oil to the correct level there
should be no issue towing it home at a
reasonable speed, IMHO. If you miss the
''TOW'' position things will get UGLY,
though!

I helped a neighbor tow a 3020 years ago about 3 miles, he
THOUGHT it was in tow position but he was wrong.
Synchronized transmission was damaged. The SAFEST way
to tow one in my opinion is to lock down the clutch pedal and
place the transmission in eighth gear. This way the differential
Will drive the transmission, which WILL drive the input shaft
AND the transmission pump so the gears and shafts are
lubricated, preventing any damage while towing.
