I assume it's for moving dirt or gravel and the back of it could face the back of the tractor or away from the tractor.

Moved many tons of soil over the years.
Used on a Ford 8N.

Adding a hydraulic top link to change the angle helps it to cut better. After you fill it up you can then curl it the other way to keep more in it.
You do have to be careful to not get too aggressive with the cut as the bucket will collapse the top link if set too short.
Very versatile. I even use mine to haul fiewood.

I believe it is a Ford 706 reversible rear scoop.
I have one just like it that I've
used for many tasks behind a 3000. Carving off a rise in a deer plot and carrying the soil to a low, damp area to fill it. Its not very fast but not unenjoyable either. Haul rocks out of my plots and dump them. Hook it up backwards and carry my chain saw, gas & oil or my 25 gal. weed sprayer around.
As @Keith Williams suggests, a hydraulic top link makes it Much more versitile. In fact I would cry if I had to go back to a screw type top link for mowing, plowing discing, boom pole, etc.
