Tractor Activity in Florida

Hi all

I'm contemplating a move to Florida from the UK. Can anyone tell me what the vintage tractor scene is like in Florida re shows and how easy is it to pick up Ford Tractors for restoration?

I would contemplate taking my collection out with me but the expense may be prohibitive.

Unfortunately.. the used tractor scene is not good. I often have to look for a year or more to find a good candidate to restore.. and some machines just plain are not available down here due to sive or intended design. I'd had to buy out of state a few times in order to get a machine i wanted.

Farther north, and in the midwest / green belt is the real hot tractor scene. Cheaper machines.. more plentiful, and lots to choose from. i read a few online wantads from up north.. tractor i see down here go for 1/4 to 1/2 up there.

Florida has no real 'green' farms IE.. most of our farms were smaller or equine. The green farms ( vegies ) are north.. and that's where you see the tractors.

I know of 1 big tractor show in florida.. and it's the flywheelers park. there are a few clubs that have yearly shows in northern florida around oak and starke.. etc.. but that's about it unfortunately.

No tractor junkyards here either except near the state line.

I occasionally will take a weekend and hit a 3 county area looking for used junk for sale.

Currently I'm looking for a ford trike... have been looking since last year.. -0- hits yet.

( try georgia or farther north... better luck there )

good luck.
